I don't understand why Java is considered one of the most dreaded languages. Java has got many fantastic frameworks and libraries to work with it. Also I find more Java Jobs in Software Industry then any other Language. What do you think??
Java is used for in real Software Applications that most MNC's rely on to run their Business. Although it might not be the simplest or fastest programming language, but it is often the workhorse powering many back-office applications.
New Programmers usually like languages which are simple to understand and write, irrespective of its speed or adaptability to high volume of traffic.
Nothing wrong with Python, JavaScript and the other favorite programming languages these days. But Java is still very much common and used heavily throughout software industry.
The only reason I think people complain about Java is because it is the number one used programming language. In order to be relevant as a language and justify your existence you have to somehow be better than Java. So all languages pick something as their one thing in which they outperform Java and brag about it.
Of course they all fail miserably in other areas but they don't mention that.
Java has a few minor quirks which are getting fixed with newer versions added. But all other languages I've looked at have gaping holes you can drive trucks through.
